Zoals u vast wel meegekregen had is Wikileaks voorman Julian Assange afgelopen donderdag opgepakt in de ambassade van Ecuador in Londen. Z’n asielstatus was ingetrokken waarna de deuren wagewijdbeens open gingen om hem eruit te sleuren.
En zoals wel eerder door hem gedreigd heeft Wikileaks nu een enorme envelop met documenten onder de voordeur van het internet doorgeschoven. We hebben het net van de deurmat geplukt en het ligt hier in een ovenschaal voor u klaar. Naar zeggen explosief materiaal, maar we rammen dit eerst online en gaan dan hieronder updaten wat we (en u natuurlijk) tegenkomen.

Tot nu toe niets schokkends gevonden, maar ik ga ze ook niet allemaal lezen (al was het maar om dat ik niet hebreeuws en vietnamees en dat soort dingen kan lezen). Veel dingen die al bekend waren, zoals dat de EU aan een hele berg eisen moet voldoen voor het leveren van rundvlees aan de US terwijl de lokale boeren daar niet aan die dingen hoeven te voldoen, en dat de EU ook instemt met het tegenwerken van onderzoeken naar die vlees leveringen. Israel did so in 1999, and has been able to sustain its difficult balance

Iraqi and Afghan governments, that they must change their laws,
lowering their standards, so they can hold detainees the way we can.
It will be easier for us to recommend such frameworks to them, if the
frameworks are ones they can defend at home and abroad.
