Ik houd daar wel van, alledaagse objecten, realistisch nagemaakt, en wat mij betreft het liefst flink groot. In plaats van canvas gebruikt Pfannerstill lindehout, uitgesneden in de vorm van het na te maken object, daarmee een soort van trompe-l’oeil effect creërend. Of, zoals de kunstenaar zelf zegt: ‘My work explores the relationship between postmodern discourse and emotional memories. With influences as diverse as Wittgenstein and Roy Lichtenstein, new synergies are distilled from both explicit and implicit dialogues.Ever since I was a teenager I have been fascinated by the essential unreality of meaning. What starts out as yearning soon becomes corrupted into a dialectic of futility, leaving only a sense of dread and the inevitability of a new synthesis.As shimmering replicas become distorted through boundaried and academic practice, the viewer is left with an insight into the inaccuracies of our future.‘
Vakmanschap, dat is het zeker, en visueel uitdagend, maar het is het gelul dat het bijkans onverteerbaar maakt, comme d’habitude. Ziet iemand hier Wittgenstein in die nagemaakte geplette blikken? Neen, driewerf neen. En de rest is al evenzeer een Markov-achtige aaneenschakeling van gebeuzel, vergelijkbaar met dit moderne-componistengedreutel:

Die kunst trek ik zo van de vuilnisbelt, maar het gelul vind ik dan weer uitermate boeiend.
Oftewel: deze kunstobjecten geven je een instinctief idee van vergankelijkheid en de door interactie – dialectisch tot stand gekomen – betekenis daalt neer tot een diep- en nieuw besef van een zichzelf scheppende context waarbij de toeschouwer tegelijkertijd ook consument kan zijn..
